The Reasoning

Originally I had been interested in trying a play on the historical drink posca for this historical novel, but I decided against it after discovering that… well, honestly, posca doesn’t taste very good, and would be very difficult to dress up. So instead I’ve decided to create my own variation on the classic Hair of the Dog recipe.

The Recipe

You will need:

  • Martini Glass
  • Tumbler
  • Spoon
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Ice
  • 2 oz Peated Whisky
  • 1 tbsp Runny Honey
  • 0.5 oz Kahlua
  • 2 oz Half & Half (or 1 oz Milk & 1 oz Single Cream)
  • Pinch of Nutmeg

In your tumbler, measure your whisky and honey. Stir until fully blended. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, and add honey/whisky mixture, kahlua and half & half. Shake vigorously and strain into your martini glass. Top with pinch of nutmeg.

Enjoy the hair of the dog that bit you!
