The Pairing

Paternus by Dyrk Ashton

The Reasoning

Greensleeves is a traditional British folk song that is of some importance to the story of Paternus. Since apple pie is a traditional British dessert dating back to the time of Chaucer, it seemed like an appropriate theme for a cocktail. 🙂

The Cocktail

You will need:

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Martini Glass
  • 6-8 Ice Cubes
  • 2 tsp Turbinado Sugar & Coffee Grinder, OR 2 tsp Superfine/Baker’s Sugar
  • Saucer
  • Lemon Wedge
  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Cinnamon Whiskey
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Apple Sauce
  • 3 drops Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Sprig Mint for Garnish

If you have turbinado sugar and a coffee grinder, put sugar in grinder and pulse a few times until powdered. Otherwise, substitute superfine/baker’s sugar. Put 1 tsp sugar in saucer and swipe rim of martini glass with your lemon wedge then rim the glass with sugar. Tap to remove any loose sugar and set aside.

Put your ice cubes in the cocktail shaker and add gin, cinnamon whiskey, lemon juice, vanilla extract, a tsp of sugar and two generous tablespoons of apple sauce. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into the martini glass. Add a sprig of mint for garnish.

Enjoy!
